What is Helping Hands for Humanity?

Helping Hands for Humanity (HHH) is an organization created to help the homeless and other needy families. We have helped the handicapped, the disabled, poor people with large families, war veterans, and the elderly. HHH is unique in that it takes items directly to the people that need it - whether on the streets, under a bridge, out in the woods, in a shelter, in a rehab center, in an abuse center, in a hospital, or in a nursing home.

How is HHH different from other charities?

HHH hopes to fill a niche left by other charitable organizations. HHH hopes to make it easier for people to donate by:

I'll give you a few examples. Suppose you had perishable food items to donate. Most organizations do not accept perishable food. HHH does. Suppose you had books to donate. Will Goodwill come to your door? No. HHH will. Call the Salvation Army to pick up your couch; you may get an answer something like this, "We hope to be in your area the third week of June." Call HHH; you'll get an answer something like this, "It's one o'clock now; I'll be there before three."

Or, suppose you had some books, some clothes, and some perishable food items that you wanted to donate. None of these agencies will take all of those items and before HHH was formed, you would have had to deliver it all yourself to the many different agencies. But now, HHH will pick it all up, sort it, and deliver it to the various agencies for you.

Note that I believe all of these organizations do serve a great purpose; HHH is just more efficient in solving your immediate storage problems. In fact, HHH delivers many of the sorted items to the various charitable organizations mentioned below.

Why was HHH formed?

A few years ago, I put an ad in the Greensheet asking for donated items. The very first caller offered an electric wheelchair that had been used by his dad shortly before he passed away. I called the Senior Citizens' Center. They couldn't believe their ears; the whole town had been having rummage sales and barbecues to try to raise money to buy a wheelchair for a teenage girl who had become a quadriplegic from an auto accident and here I came out of nowhere with a $4000 wheelchair which had been donated to give to them. All of this from one simple ad!

Then the Greensheet changed its policy, making it necessary to be sponsored by a non-profit organization in order to place an ad for donated items. So, I formed my own!
